Credits & billing
Prepaid credits pay for usage beyond your plan — what they cover, how top-ups and tax work in INR and USD, how the balance is drawn down, what stops when it reaches zero, and how long credits stay valid.
Two separate things pay for Amomic-AI, and confusing them is the usual source of a surprised afternoon.
Your plan fee is a subscription. It renews monthly, it is charged automatically, and it buys you an allowance — so many conversations, so many voice minutes, so many agents and seats.
Your credits are a prepaid balance you add in advance. They pay for metered usage beyond that allowance, and for nothing else. Credits are never applied to the plan fee, and nothing inside your allowance touches them.
If you never exceed your plan, you never spend a credit.
Your workspace currency #
Every workspace bills in one currency — INR or USD — chosen when the workspace is created.
The currency cannot be changed later
It is set once, at setup, and there is no way to switch afterwards — not in settings, not by support. A balance holding real credit cannot be revalued, and a subscription cannot be moved between payment providers. If you need to bill in the other currency, that means a new workspace.
Your currency decides three things, and you never choose them separately:
| INR workspace | USD workspace | |
|---|---|---|
| Plan and usage prices | Rupee rate card | Dollar rate card |
| Payments processed by | Razorpay — card, UPI, netbanking | Paddle — card, PayPal, wallets |
| Tax | GST charged by us, on the top-up | Handled by Paddle, at checkout |
A balance is never mixed: credits bought in one currency are the only credits that workspace has, and nothing is ever converted between the two.
What credits pay for #
Only usage past your plan's included allowance draws on the balance.
| Usage | Unit | INR | USD | Charged when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Voice calls | Per minute of connected time | ₹6.00 | $0.07 | Beyond the voice minutes your plan includes |
| AI conversations | Up to 20 transactions (normally 10 exchanges) or 24 hours, whichever comes first | ₹2.00 | $0.02 | Beyond the conversations your plan includes |
| Phone numbers | Per number, per month | ₹399.00 | $3.99 | Every number on Starter; each number beyond the one included on Growth |
Only the column for your workspace's currency applies. Rates exclude tax — see Tax on top-ups below.
Limits & plans has the allowance for each plan. Two combinations are worth calling out because they surprise people:
- Starter includes zero voice minutes. Voice is entirely pay-as-you-go there, so a Starter workspace needs credits before it can take or place its first call.
- Starter includes no phone numbers. Every number on Starter is ₹399 / $3.99 a month against credits.
- Growth includes one phone number. A second number is ₹399 / $3.99 a month against credits.
Number rental is charged whole-month with no proration.
Adding credits #
Credits are added from Billing in the console. Only a workspace owner can add them — an admin can see the balance and the transaction history but cannot spend money.
| INR | USD | |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum single top-up | ₹500 | $10 |
| Maximum single top-up | ₹5,00,000 | $5,000 |
| Processed by | Razorpay | Paddle |
- 1
Open the dialog
On Billing, click Add credits on the Prepaid credits card.
- 2
Choose an amount
Pick a preset (₹1,000, ₹2,500, ₹5,000 or ₹10,000; $25, $50, $100 or $250 in USD) or type any amount in Amount within the limits above.
- 3
Check the total
The breakdown shows Credit amount, GST (18%) and Total to pay. The credit amount is what lands in your balance; GST is added on top. On an INR workspace, choose State you're billed in. Pay stays disabled until you do.
Some invoices need more: a Billing address if you've added a GSTIN, and a Registered name and Billing address for a top-up of ₹50,000 or more. When one is missing, the dialog shows the field, and a line above Pay says what to add and that GST rules require it on this invoice. Fill it in and choose Save invoice details. It's saved to Tax details, and Pay unlocks.
If your balance is below zero, the dialog tells you how much of the top-up settles usage already recorded and how much is left to spend.
- 4
Pay
Click Pay ₹{total} and complete the payment. You'll see ₹2,500 of credit added. New balance ₹…
Credits are applied as soon as the payment settles, usually within seconds.
You choose the amount; there are no fixed packs. On an INR workspace payments go through Razorpay, so card, UPI and netbanking all work. On a USD workspace they go through Paddle, which accepts cards, PayPal and the common wallets. Either way we never see your payment details.
Closing the tab does not lose your money
If your browser closes between paying and seeing the confirmation, the credits still arrive — the payment gateway notifies us independently and the balance updates on its own. Refresh Billing after a minute. A payment can never be credited twice, however many times the confirmation is retried.
Credits are available on Starter and Growth only. Free can't buy credits; its allowance is a hard cap. Enterprise is invoiced against its contract. Neither shows the credit balance.
Tax on top-ups #
Tax is settled at the top-up, never as credits are consumed. That is true in both currencies, and it is why drawdown is tax-free: the tax was already paid on the money going in. In both cases the amount you chose is what lands in your balance — tax is charged in addition and is never spendable as credit.
Who charges it differs.
INR workspaces — GST, charged by us #
Under Indian GST law, tax on a service is payable when the advance is received. So GST is charged on the top-up, on top of the credit amount, and we raise a tax invoice for that payment.
- The state you are billed in is required before a top-up goes through. GST rules oblige us to record it on the invoice, and it is what decides whether you are charged CGST + SGST or IGST. The Add credits dialog asks for it if we do not already have it.
- A GSTIN is optional — add it if you want to claim input tax credit, and we will fill in your state from it. You still get a tax invoice without one.
- Tax details can also be reviewed or changed any time under Billing → Tax details. An invoice is issued at payment and cannot be reissued with different details, so change them before you pay, not after.
- Each top-up gets its own numbered GST invoice under Billing → Billing history. Invoices & tax covers the details.
USD workspaces — handled by Paddle #
Paddle is the merchant of record for USD workspaces. It calculates, collects and remits sales tax, VAT or GST for your jurisdiction, and issues the tax invoice itself — so we do not raise one, and you will not find a PDF from us under Billing.
- Your receipt and tax invoice come from Paddle, and Billing links out to them.
- If your business is VAT-registered, enter your VAT ID at checkout. Paddle applies reverse charge where it is due, so a valid ID on a cross-border sale means no VAT is added.
- The dollar figures above are exclusive of tax; what tax is added depends on where you are.
How the balance is drawn down #
Usage is measured continuously and charged against the balance through the day, so Billing reflects near-real-time spend rather than a month-end surprise.
- Your allowance goes first. Nothing is charged until the plan's included quota for that meter is exhausted. Each meter is counted on its own, so running out of voice minutes does not touch your conversations.
- A campaign recipient is one conversation, not one message. Sending someone a template opens a 24-hour conversation; their reply, and everything the agent says back inside those 24 hours, is part of the same one. A 1,200-recipient broadcast costs 1,200 conversations however much conversation follows it — and the first ones come out of your plan's included allowance, not your credits.
- Voice rounds up on the monthly total, not on each call. Eleven forty-second calls in a month cost eight minutes, not eleven.
- Trials never draw on credits. Usage during a trial Amomic-AI has given you comes out of the trial plan's allowance only.
- The credits closest to expiring are spent first, so you lose as little as possible to expiry.
- Every movement is a dated line under Billing → Credit transactions: every top-up, every charge, every expiry, with the balance it produced.
A balance can briefly go below zero
Usage is measured after it happens. A call already in progress when your credits run out finishes and is charged normally, which can take the balance negative. That is expected, not an error — your next top-up settles the shortfall before adding spendable credit, and the console tells you how much of the top-up is doing that.
Reading the Prepaid credits card #
- The bar measures spend against your last top-up, not against a plan quota. "82% used" means 82% of the credits you most recently added. It turns amber at 80% and red at 95%. Topping up resets it to zero.
- ~{n} days left at your recent pace estimates how long the balance lasts, from your average daily spend over the last seven days. With no charges in that week there's no estimate, and the card shows what you've spent this month instead.
- What used your credits this month breaks this month's charges down by kind, for example Phone numbers · 1 number-month ₹399.00.
- An expiry line appears when credits will lapse within 30 days: ₹X expires on {date} — spend it before then.
What happens when you run out #
Running out of credits is not a suspension. Your workspace stays open, your plan keeps working, and only the meter that has run out is affected. Something is refused only when both of these are true:
- That meter's included allowance for the month is used up, and
- your credit balance is at zero or below.
When that happens, new work on that meter is refused until you add credits, upgrade, or the allowance resets on the 1st:
| Meter used up | Refused until you top up | Still works |
|---|---|---|
| Conversations | New web chat conversations. The visitor sees Sorry — the assistant isn't available right now. Please reach out to the team directly and they'll be happy to help. | Conversations that are already open this month, including replies to a campaign template you sent |
| New WhatsApp conversations. The message is still saved in your Inbox, but the agent doesn't reply. | ||
Campaign launches and API sends (POST /messages) |
||
| Voice minutes | Incoming calls to your numbers. They aren't connected, so no minute is charged. | A call already in progress runs to its end |
| Outbound calls, from the console, campaigns or the API |
What is not a reason to refuse anything: an empty balance on its own. Credits sit behind the allowance, so a workspace that has used 200 of its 5,000 included conversations can keep chatting and run campaigns all month at a zero balance. Running out of voice minutes doesn't stop a WhatsApp broadcast, and running out of conversations doesn't stop calls.
Nothing in progress is ever cut off. The check runs when a conversation or call starts, never in the middle of one.
Inbound customers are affected
Once a meter is spent and the balance is at zero, customers reaching you on that channel go unanswered. On Starter, which includes no voice minutes, that means incoming calls stop as soon as the balance reaches zero. Keep a balance, and act on the warning emails.
The Prepaid credits card on Billing turns red with Usage beyond your plan is paused while anything is being refused. If the balance is empty but every meter still has allowance left, the card says so in grey: nothing is paused.
The Free plan is a hard cap #
Free can't hold credits, so its allowance is the limit. After 100 conversations in a month, new web chat and WhatsApp conversations are refused until the 1st. The meter on Billing turns red: Used up — new conversations are paused until your allowance resets on the 1st. The way out is to upgrade.
A suspended workspace is different #
A suspension comes from an unpaid plan payment, not from credits, and it stops far more than an empty balance does. It closes the console down to Billing and stops everything that serves your customers: web chat and WhatsApp stop replying, no WhatsApp message or call goes out, campaigns, call-backs and reminders are held, and API keys are refused. Adding credits doesn't lift it; paying the invoice does, and everything resumes on its own. See When a payment fails.
Over the API #
Placing a call once your included minutes and your credits are gone returns 412:
{"error": {"code": "failed_precondition","message": "This workspace has used every voice minute its plan includes this month, and there are no prepaid credits left to cover more. Add credits in the console (Billing) or upgrade the plan to keep calling.","details": { "reason": "wallet_empty" },"request_id": "req_01JQRS4T8XZ0AB1CD2EF3GH4","correlation_id": "cor_01JQRS4T8XZ0AB1CD2EF3GH4"}}
Branch on details.reason == "wallet_empty". It is not retryable and backing off will not help — a human has to add credits or upgrade. Queue the work and drain it once the balance is positive rather than looping.
Sending a message with POST /messages once the included conversations are spent fails the same way, with details.reason == "allowance_exhausted". Nothing is sent and nothing is charged.
Launching a campaign fails the same way once its meter is spent (conversations for a WhatsApp campaign, voice minutes for a call campaign), with details.reason == "allowance_exhausted", and fails before anything is staged: no recipient is contacted and the campaign stays in draft. Half-sending a campaign would be worse than refusing it.
On the Free plan the message says to upgrade rather than to add credits, because Free can't hold credits: This workspace has used every conversation its plan includes this month. Upgrade the plan in the console (Billing) to keep messaging.
A campaign that is only partly covered still launches. When your balance is at zero, the launch carries an informational finding naming the split: how many recipients the plan still covers and how many will be charged to credits. Those charges are taken after the sends, so they can take the balance below zero; your next top-up settles them. Top up before a large launch if you'd rather not run a deficit.
The check fails open
If the billing service cannot be reached, your conversation is answered, your call is placed and your campaign launches. We would rather serve usage we bill a few minutes late than refuse a paying customer's call over an infrastructure blip. The usage is still charged once the balance can be read again.
You are warned three times #
Emails go to every owner and admin as the balance falls, at roughly 80%, 95% and 100% of the credits you last added. Each one shows the balance, the consumption bar, what spent it that month, and an estimate of how long the remainder lasts at your recent pace.
Each level fires once per top-up. Adding credits re-arms all three, so a workspace that tops up and drains repeatedly is warned every time — and one hovering at 82% is not emailed daily.
The same notices appear in the console bell.
How long credits last #
Credits are valid for 12 months from the date of the top-up that created them. Each top-up carries its own expiry, and keeping the account active does not extend one.
- Credits lapsing within 30 days are shown on the Prepaid credits card, and a notice appears in the console bell.
- Credits not used in that window lapse and leave the balance, recorded as a dated line in your credit transactions.
- Promotional or goodwill credits may carry a shorter validity, stated when they are issued, and have no cash value.
Refunds #
| Usage already consumed | Not refundable |
| Unused credits you purchased | Refundable on written request when you close your account, less gateway charges we cannot recover |
| Expired credits | Not refundable |
| Duplicate or erroneous charges | Refunded in full once verified |
The full terms are the Prepaid Credits & Top-ups policy and the Refund & Cancellation policy.
If you believe a charge is wrong, write to support@amomic.in with the reference from your credit transactions. We check it against our own service logs and credit the difference where a charge is verified as incorrect.
Common questions #
Calls stopped but chat still works. Your voice minutes are used up and the balance is at zero. That is the credit floor doing its job, not an outage. Add credits in Billing.
Website visitors see "the assistant isn't available right now". Your conversations for the month are used up and the balance is at zero (or you're on Free and have reached 100). Add credits or upgrade.
I topped up but calls or chats are still refused. The balance is re-read within about thirty seconds. If it persists past a minute, check whether the top-up actually settled — an unsettled payment shows no new line in credit transactions.
The balance is negative. Expected. Usage is measured after it happens; your next top-up settles the shortfall first.
I am on Starter and every minute is charged. Correct — Starter includes no voice minutes. Growth includes 500.
A number I deleted mid-month was still charged. Number rental is charged whole-month with no proration.
