Upgrades, downgrades & trials

How changing plan works — the preview, upgrading and paying, scheduling a downgrade and undoing it, moving to Free and the 7-day hold on your WhatsApp number and phone numbers, trials, and what happens when a payment fails.

Open Billing

You change plan from Billing. Only the workspace owner can do it. Every change starts with a preview that shows what it costs, when it takes effect, and what stops working, before anything is charged or scheduled.

The rule of thumb:

  • Upgrades happen now. You pay today and the new plan starts at once.
  • Downgrades happen at the end of the period you've already paid for. Until then nothing changes, and you can undo a downgrade to a paid plan.

Upgrading #

  1. 1

    Open the preview

Click Upgrade to {plan} on the plan's card in the Plans grid, or Change plan on your plan card.

The preview says {plan} starts the moment this payment clears, and your billing cycle restarts today. It shows the price, the GST, and the amount Charged today.

If you're moving up from a paid plan part-way through its period, a green line shows the credit you get back for the unused days. In the example above, 19 unused days of a ₹2,999 Starter month return ₹1,838.13 (₹2,999 × 19 ÷ 31, before GST) to your prepaid balance. That credit pays for usage beyond your plan. It isn't paid back to your card.

Click Pay and move to {plan}.

  2. 2

    Add your GSTIN, or skip

On an INR workspace with no GSTIN on file, you're asked Add your GSTIN? You pay 18% GST either way. The GSTIN only decides whether your business can claim it back as input tax credit.

The invoice is issued the moment the payment succeeds and can't be reissued, so this is the last chance to add a GSTIN for this payment. Add GST details takes you to Tax details. Skip for now carries on.

  3. 3

    Review and pay

The review shows the plan, the GST and the Total to pay. On INR, State you're billed in is required, because it decides the GST split on your invoice.

The plan then renews automatically at the same total each month. Click Pay ₹{total} to open the payment window:

    • INR: card, UPI or netbanking, processed by Razorpay.
    • USD: card, PayPal or wallet, processed by Paddle, which adds any sales tax or VAT at checkout.
  4. 4

    Done

When the payment clears you'll see You're on the {plan} plan. Welcome aboard!, and Billing shows the new plan, period and allowances. On a USD workspace you see Payment started — your plan updates as soon as it clears. instead, and the plan changes a moment later. If you close the payment window without paying, nothing is charged: Payment window closed — no charge was made.

Downgrading to a paid plan #

Click Downgrade to {plan} on the plan's card. The preview, Move to the {plan} plan, tells you:

  • When: You keep {current plan} until {date} — the end of the period you have paid for.
  • What stops on {date}: a list worked out for your workspace. It includes your real usage, for example You have used 3,482 this month, so new web chats and WhatsApp conversations will be refused until 1 December.
  • No refund — a downgrade never returns money, it stops the next charge.

Click Schedule the change. A card appears at the top of Billing:

Nothing changes before that date. Until then you can click Undo this change: That change has been called off — nothing will change.

What a downgrade does and doesn't touch:

What happens
Agents, knowledge bases, deployments, team members Kept, and keep working. You can't create more until you're under the new plan's limit.
Included conversations and voice minutes Drop to the new plan's allowance. What you've used so far this month counts against the new allowance.
Campaigns Stop on Starter and Free.
Your WhatsApp number and phone numbers (Growth → Starter) Kept. A number that Growth included becomes chargeable at ₹399 / $3.99 a month from credits.

Moving to Free or cancelling #

Moving to Free, either with Downgrade to Free or with Cancel on your plan card, works like any downgrade: it takes effect at the end of your paid period. Two things are different:

  • It can't be undone. It closes your subscription with the payment provider. You can subscribe again once it has taken effect.
  • Free can't carry WhatsApp or phone numbers. On the effective date your WhatsApp number stops answering and your phone numbers stop taking calls.
The preview names each number that stops, and the date it would be removed.

The 7-day hold #

Your WhatsApp sender and phone numbers aren't removed straight away. They're held for 7 days after the move. While they're held:

  • They don't answer. New WhatsApp messages are still saved, so you can read who wrote to you, but the agent doesn't reply. Incoming calls aren't connected.
  • Billing shows These have stopped answering, with a countdown. A red banner runs across every console page, and a pop-up lists what has stopped.
  • Upgrade to restore them brings everything back with nothing to reconnect.

After 7 days:

  • The WhatsApp sender is disconnected. You can connect it again later, because Meta keeps the number, its quality rating and its templates.
  • Phone numbers are released to the carrier. A released number can't be recovered.

Keep a number you can't lose

If a phone number is printed on your packaging, invoices or service vans, don't move to Free. Starter keeps the number at ₹399 a month.

Trials #

Trials are given by Amomic-AI. You can't start one yourself in the console. If your workspace has one:

  • Billing shows Your {plan} trial ends in {n} days. Your plan card reads Granted by Amomic-AI · free while it runs, and Next payment reads None.
  • Nothing is charged during a trial, and nothing is charged automatically when it ends. The workspace simply returns to the plan it was on before.
  • Usage during a trial comes out of the trial plan's allowance. Your prepaid credits aren't drawn on.
  • See what changes shows exactly what you'd lose on the end date, worked out for your workspace.
  • Keep {plan} subscribes you to the trial plan through the upgrade flow.

You're reminded before the end: by email at 3 days and 1 day left, by a banner across the console, and in a pop-up the day before and on the last day.

If you were paying for Starter when Amomic-AI gave you a Growth trial, your Starter subscription carries on and is charged as usual. When the trial ends you're back on Starter.

When a payment fails #

If a renewal payment fails, the workspace is past due:

  • A red banner on every page: Your payment is overdue by {n} days — service will be suspended if it stays unpaid.
  • Billing shows Your payment is overdue, and the plan chip reads past_due.
  • Everything keeps working for now.

If it's still unpaid after 3 days, the workspace is suspended, and everything that serves your customers stops:

  • The console closes down to Billing for everyone, with Your account is suspended.
  • Web chat: visitors get Sorry — the assistant isn't available right now. Please reach out to the team directly and they'll be happy to help. instead of an answer, in new and already-open conversations alike.
  • WhatsApp, incoming: messages are still saved to your Inbox, so you can see who wrote, but the agent doesn't reply and no typing… is shown. Nothing is charged for them.
  • WhatsApp, outgoing: every send is refused: agent replies, your team's replies, templates, API sends, campaigns and reminders. A WhatsApp reply your team writes on a ticket is held, not lost, and goes out by itself after payment.
  • Calls: outbound calls and click-to-call are refused. Incoming calls are answered only to play a short out-of-service line, then end. They're recorded with the outcome suspended, so you can see who rang, and no minutes are charged.
  • Campaigns, call-backs and appointment reminders are held where they are. Nobody is skipped, no attempt is used up, and a campaign can't be launched or resumed until the invoice is paid.
  • API keys are refused with 403 workspace_suspended.

Your customers are never told the workspace is suspended or unpaid. Billing and payment keep working throughout.

The owner clicks Complete payment, reviews the amount and pays. Service resumes on its own within a few minutes, with nothing to switch back on: held campaigns, call-backs, reminders and ticket replies carry on where they stopped. Other team members see Ask an organization owner to complete the payment.

Enterprise #

Enterprise has custom pricing. Click Talk to us on its card: Thanks — our team will reach out about upgrading. You can also write to support@amomic.in.

Troubleshooting #

Schedule the change is greyed out. The preview explains why. Usually the payment provider couldn't be reached, or there's an unpaid payment on the subscription. Try again in a minute, or complete the payment first.

I want to undo a move to Free. A move to Free can't be undone, because the subscription is already closed. Once it takes effect, subscribe again from the Plans grid. If that's within the 7-day hold, your WhatsApp number and phone numbers come straight back.

My trial ended and I was charged. The trial itself never charges. You'll see a charge only if you were already paying for a plan underneath the trial, and that charge is for that plan.

My upgrade credit didn't come back as money. It isn't meant to. The unused days go into your prepaid credits, where they pay for usage beyond your plan.
